What is “International Day”?
As of April 2009, close to 17,000 people from 85 countries are residents of Toyota City, and tens of thousands of people from around the world visit it every year. Many citizens have either lived or traveled overseas and people come and go across international borders with increasing frequency. When faced with issues such as the globalization of the economy and global-scale environmental problems, we are starting to realize that we cannot live in isolation from other parts of the world. “International Day” has been established in the hope of making people more aware of the fact that every resident of Toyota City, regardless of nationality, is both a citizen of Toyota and a citizen of the world, so that we all learn to act accordingly.
*On October 1, 1988, Toyota International Association was established with the following philosophy: Internationalization requires that citizens must take a leading role. |
