Main projects of the TIA Activities Center
“Citizens are the main actors in globalization.”
Since its establishment in 1988, as the Toyota International Association, the TIA Activities Center has developed citizen-led international
exchange projects based on three pillars: international exchange, international understanding, and multicultural coexistence. Our projects
include events to encounter diverse cultures and people, various courses to get to know each other, and the creation of systems for a
society where we can all live together.
| International Exchange | We provide support for sister city exchanges and local international exchange activities. Examples of Projects: ・International Japan Exchange Event: "World Tour at TIA" ・Support for exchanges with sister cities Derbyshire, UK and Detroit, USA ・Kids Festival etc. |
|---|---|
| International Understanding | In addition to activities that deepen understanding of various cultures, we also support activities that encourage proactive engagement and learning on "international" matters, as well as civic activities, with the aim of developing international human resources. Examples of projects: ・Kid's Global Club ・International Understanding Seminars ・Support for International Understanding Classes etc. |
| Multicultural Coexistence | We are working towards realizing a "multicultural city where no one is left behind" and "where everyone can thrive comfortably." Examples of projects: ・Japanese Classes ・Interpretation and Translation ・Multilingual Consultation Services etc. |
TIA and Volunteers
A key characteristic of TIA’s activities is that each volunteer group actively engages in activities with its own specific goals. In addition to
groups working on international exchange, Japanese language learning support, and native language retention activities, there are also
opportunities for individual volunteers to contribute through services such as interpretation, translation, and hosting homestays and home
visits. Approximately 300 people register with TIA each year.
Toyota City is an international city with a large population of people with foreign ties. Aiming for a multicultural society where we
understand and respect diverse cultures and “live together,” why not take the first step towards international exchange by getting to know
one another?
